Stepping through the Inca Portal of Rumi Punku is like entering a sanctuary. In over 12 years visiting Cuzco twice a year, I have found no other hotel offering all that welcomes me here. It is bright, airy, spotlessly clean and the staff are generous, welcoming and quick to help. I enjoy the many artful touches of class--the flowers in the rooms, colonial antiques placed to treat the eye on all sides and the original paintings on the walls.
The beds are firm and covered with Norwegian comforters, and the rooms have extra blankets, heaters and spotless bathrooms. There is a garden patio, a sunny rooftop terrace, and a remarkable sauna, jacuzzi and workout room overlooking the city! The breakfast is excellent.
Friends who I have recommended stay at Rumi Punku have raved about it. Having found this hotel,
I am no longer looking for something better...there probably isn't anything better to be found in Cuzco.

My family of 7 (2 seniors, 2 adults & 3 teenagers) just returned from Peru. stayed 3 nights at Hotel Rumi Punku and loved it. It is quiet and charming. Clean, comfortable beds, good breakfast. Easy access to Coca Mate Tea for those acclimating to altitude. Close to Plaza de Armas and good restaurants. Service was great! Everyone was very accomodating. Very secure, electric gate & night security. Always a cab waiting right outside.
Would definitely say again!

We stayed there at this hostal for 3 nights. My mother, my friend and I we really spent a nice time there. The place was a colonial-like house with an original Cuzco arch as main entrance. Beautiful. People who worked there was always friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable, spacious, and clean. The good thing was that 24 hours a day it was available at the dining room a jar with hot water and we could drink coca tea to avoid the puna effect. This was excellent idea. I highly recommend this hostal.

My friend and I spent 3 wonderful nights here while we acclimatized to Cusco and took in the city and all the surrounding areas. From there we went to Chinchero, Ollantaytambo (do not miss this if at all possible!) and then the train to Aquas Calientes and Machu Picchu.

The hostal is located on a very quiet street and once entering through the ancient Incan doorway; you are greeted by a serene and tiny plaza within the tall walls. The layout is quite beautiful and the rooms were quaint and charming. Breakfast is served every morning from 7 - 9. Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs and ham, fresh fruit, granola, pastries and jam, fresh squeezed juice, coffee and hot tea.

Rumi Punku is easily within walking distance to the Plaza la Armas, old cathedrals, Coricancha, and the enchanting sector of San Blas. It is only a quick taxi ride to Sacsayhuaman and the other adjacent Incan ruins. We loved everything about it! Staff was friendly and more than helpful!!

We did return from Aquas Calientes to sadly spend our last night in the exceptionally beautiful country of Peru, here again at Rumi Punku. We were pleased and got much more than we had hoped for during our stays here at Rumi Punku. Would go back in a heartbeat!!

I do want to add that while we were here, my friend dropped her brand new digital camera and broke it. She was naturally distraught and one of the people at the front desk immediately called a friend of his and he came and got the camera and fixed it. Three hours later, my friend had her camera returned and was only charged $30 for the two broken parts to be repaired. She was thrilled!!

Rumi Punku is one of the nicest places we have stayed in this price range. Staff was very friendly. The hostal has great decor, wonderful beds and was immaculate. Fast and free internet. The lounge and dining hall were very pleasant and breakfast of muesli, yoghurt, fruit, bread, eggs, ham, cheese, bread, jam, etc. was filling and of good quality. Jorge, the desk clerk, always had a smile. The location is great in San Blas just 5 minutes walk from the square. There are good restaurants close by and try to eat at Quinta Eulalia up the street for great authentic Peruvian cuisine at a fair price. There is nothing to dislike about this hostal.

If you visit Cusco and you do not stay at the Rumi Punku, you messed up!. The Hostal Rumi Punku is quaint, safe and is convenient to the central plaza. The hot showers were great and the Norwegian dynes are such a nice touch in making the beds sooooo comfortable. I arrived at the Rumi Punku with a group of 22 people (mostly dental students from Tufts University). That large a group puts a lot of pressure on the hotel staff. Javier Siclla and his staff were fantastic in accommodating all of us. Every morning, breakfast was there for us; even the one morning when we had to leave at 4:30AM! Peru is a beautiful country but its people are what make it so memorable - The Hostal Rumi Punku is a quaint and comfortable place to stay but its staff makes it the only place to stay in Cusco.

What a great place! Great beds, shower, location and staff! Our front desk manager, Gorge, made dinner reservations for us at the Inka Grill. He informed the restaurant it was my daughter's birthday so they suprised us with a special Peruvian chocolate dessert. It was a great experience and we will return to Rumi Punku.

My husband and I were extremely pleased with our choice of Hostal Rumi Punku when we travelled to Cusco for a two week stay in September. We were welcomed to Cusco by the staff at Rumi Punku from the moment we left the airport -- since they were there to greet us with our name and the name of the Hostal. Once at Rumi Punku we were given Coca Tea and for the next 2 weeks we felt completely at home. Perfect, safe, location close to the Plaza de Armas; nearby, friendly, convenience stores with bottled water and essentials; Jack's Cafe down the street; and taxi cabs at the door whenever you need them. Our luggage was safely stored during our 4 day hike to Machu Pichu and we returned from our hike feeling as if we had come home.

Would highly recommend this wonderful, clean hostal. Jorge and Javier speak very good English and work extremely hard to make visitors feel welcome and comfortable during their stay in Peru.

We stayed at Rumi Punku for 10 days in August 2007 with our extended family (8 of us). It is a lovely, quiet, quaint hotel in a convenient area...a perfect home base for Cusco. They have comfortable rooms, clean bathrooms, heat and hot water, as well as yummy free breakfasts and free wireless internet access, all at a reasonable price...a perfect place to stay!

Having just returned from 6 weeks in South America, my stay at Rumi Punku in Cusco is certainly a high point. The very capable and friendly staff made my visit to Cusco as well as my trip to watch the sun rise over Machu Picchu a seamless, wonderful and memorable experience. The location, the setting, cleanliness(not to mention the warm Norwegian feather duvets) all at a very reasonable price, makes this a real find for the traveler. I highly recommend Rumi Punku and I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay!!!

I Love Hostal Rumi Punku! A friend and I stayed here for 3 nights in Nov 06 and were thrilled with the service, location and value of this hostal. The rooms were clean and well maintained, the hot water was reliable, and the beds were comfortable. The location is very central and as two single girls we felt safe to walk to and from the square, even after 10p. I also can't say enough about how friendly, kind, and helpful staff the staff are. The breakfast was great as well. Overall I highly recommend Hostal Rumi Punku as an excellent value and great place to stay.

We stayed at the Rumi Punku for a few nights in October, 2006. It was the least expensive of the three hotels we stayed at while in Peru, but was the one we liked the best by far. The hostal itself is lovely. Our rooms on the second floor were very nice, spacious and quiet. The staff was always helpful, warm and hospitable, no matter how busy they were. The kindness of the staff is one of our fondest memories of the entire trip. Even when we returned after being gone a couple of days in Aguas Calientes, they still remembered us by name. We were very impressed. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to Cusco some day, the Rumi Punku would be our first choice. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place in Cusco.

We stayed at Rumi Punku for a total of four nights: three nights before we hiked to Machu Picchu and one night after. The location was excellent: on a quiet street, but just a couple minutes walk from the main square, bars, restaurants etc. Both rooms we stayed in were large, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast and service were excellent. The staff was great help directing us to things to do and see in Cusco, and the owner went far out of his way to help us when we ran into a difficult situation. We couldn't have been more pleased.

There are only two genuine large Inca gates in Cuzco, the crossrods of
South American travel and travelers, as well as the Inca capital. One
leads into Hostal Rumi Punku, where a genuine experience of comfort,
courtesy, convenience and authenticity awaits travelers, for a
reasonable price and outstanding value. Cuzco has sufficient delights
apart from its hotels, but the pleasure of staying at the Rumi Punku
assures that a Cuzco visit will long remain among one,s happiest
travel memories. I look forward to my return stays at the Rumi Punku
as frequently as possible. Malcolm Williamson
