This was my favorite hotel I stayed in on my trip to Bolivia and Peru. The door is magnificient and the inside is beautiful. The staff was very nice and friendly too. Especially Nayade. She helped me back into my apartment when I was locked out, 3 times! Wonderful experience there!

My family and I love this hotel! It is near the plaza, it is clean and the staff is very friendly. We slept so well with their warm eitherdown covers. Clean and with all you could need. The breakfast which is included is really good and variated. We also appreciated the nice fireplace in the cafe in the morning and at night. The best hotel ever! We will miss it.Thank you.

We LOVED our stay at this wonderful hotel. The staff is so helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was terrific, the gardens are spectacular and the internet service is great. From the clean and comfortable rooms to the endless hot water, I cannot wait to return!

We loved staying at Rumi Punku. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and we loved the made-to-order breakfast. If we come back to Cusco, we will certainly be back at Rumi Punku.

The Rumi Punku was one of the best parts of our trip to Peru. Clean, warm, hot water, friendly staff, great location, reliable internet, safe luggage storage. Highly recommended!

5 of us stayed at the hotel and we had the most wonderful time. the hotel had everything we needed, warm, clean and friendly. Easy walking distance to everything, at the same time quiet and restful. Great value for money. We would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cusco.

I love this hotel - it is a home away from home. Great location and very comfortable. Carla and Sergio at the front desk were always helpful. And the tours booked through Sergio's agency, Inka Legacy, were wonderful - like having insiders information. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Rumi Punku in November of 2009....so we are also late with the comment!
We fully agree with the good reviews. ...cute, small, quiet, clean hotel...good staff, good breakfast...well located too. Would certainly recommend, unless you want to stay in big hotel chains. We made reservations through their website 2 months before our planned flight to Lima - Cusco ...everything worked out very smoothly. Thank you!

Ok, so I am a little late in writing this, but better late than never.

When anyone I speak to mentions a possible trip to Cusco, I immediately mention the Rumi Punku as the place to stay. Hence, while it has been a few months since my visit, I decided I should put it in writing for more to see.

Our room was smallish, but clean and well furnished with comfy beds. Staff was extremely helpful with anything requiring assistance : from replacing items in the room, blankets (they are awesome by the way), to helping us book rides, tours, etc. They work with some great chauffeurs. The area felt safe, was well lit, and we were never afraid to move around even at night. I loved the fire in the dining room fireplace early in the morning - worked great to take the edge of cool mornings. (we were there in October). If you have a special request - don't be shy, they just may be able to help you!

While they have English speaking staff, I was happy to chat which them in Spanish, after all, I wasn't in Cusco to speak English with everyone!

I want to go back!

Gracias por todo, ojala nos vemos pronto.

Service at this hotel was great. Not sure if it is family operated but it seemed like it was. Nice breakfasts. Internet access from the lobby. Location was perfect for me because it was above the chaos of the main square and down a quieter street. I travel the world and would definitely recommend this hotel as a solid option and good value

I stayed here in December, 2009. This was my first trip to Peru and I am a nervous traveller. I must say that Rumi Punku was marvelous. The rooms were clean and spacious, the showers hot, the towels fluffy, the buffet breakfast generous and varied. The staff was very friendly and hospitable, the courtyard and dining area have some real genuine local charm, and invite guests to chat with one another, which was a pleasant surprise. I also expecially liked the doorman who was a gentle but firm sentry at the entranceway, a boon to any nervous traveler. I was glad that I did not pick a big hotel chain, but found this local place. It has local charm. I would stay here again. I am writing this review because reading reviews was how I chose my locations, so it is a way to thank and pay back all who take the time to write these reviews.

My mother and I just stayed at Rumi Punku before and after we hiked the Inca Trail. And it was one of our best decisions of our trip. The hotel is nicely ethnically styled, the rooms are a good size and come with the comforts expected in more expensive hotels, the breakfast was delicious, the staff were unbelievably helpful and friendly (better than most hotels in Europe and the US), free wifi (although sometimes doesn{t work in the rooms) ... and the location is good. Not right in the center but close to all the restaurants, bars, sites etc so that you have access without the noise and foot traffic. I highly recommend!

And if you do the Inca Trail.. I strongly recommend you take up the spa ($10 per person cost) for recovery. Its on the roof top and you overlook the beautiful vista of cuzco. You can take a jacuzzi bath (exceptionally clean and comfortable), sit in the sauna... all whilst enjoying a well deserved glass of wine! Its was a perfect touch!!!

Hi thoroughly enjoyed my 2 night stay at Rumi. The place is immaculately kept, the service is friendly and personal. They serve a wonderful breakfast every morning in the main lounge which is very homey and relaxing. Wi-Fi connection is excellent too! You can even reserve the jacuzzi-sauna all to yourself! I will be back!

We stayed three nights at the Rumi Punku - two nights in Cusco to acclimate and one night to pamper ourselves after our Andes trek and trip to Machu Picchu. During our stay, we had the best service I think we've ever experienced at a hotel. The staff went out of its way to help us with our travel arrangements.

As for location and amenities, we found the location of the Rumi Punku to be ideal as it was close to the town plaza and several great restaurants. Everything seemed to be in walking distance. The breakfast was delicious, with made-to-order eggs and a variety of other food.

We would enthusiastically recommend this hotel to a friend.

Even before I arrived the hotel staff was extremely helpful. They arranged a taxi to meet me at the airport and when I told them I was traveling with my bicycle they made sure the taxi would be able to accommodate that. I arrived to a very warm welcome, which I particularly appreciated after a long flight with several connections. The location is very convenient, only a few minutes walk from the main plaza and the beautiful views of San Cristobal are just up the hill

We just completed a week long vacation in Cusco Peru. I found this hotel from Trip Advisor and the experience certainly exceeded our expectations.
The staff are very polite and professional, they are very helpful when we asked for any advises or help.
hotel situated only few blocks from the main square, which is very convent, and it is also close to the San Bla artist district in the north. Wi-Fi is also available.

The near by Jack's Cafe is our favorite restaurant in town, the Capuccino is to die for and put Startbucks in shame, great price too.

This has to be one of the best hotels I have stayed in for overall guest experience.

The hotel is very comfy, well furnished and spotlessly clean; plus all the staff speak excellent English and are very friendly and helpful. The whole place is relaxed and welcoming.

During the time I was in and around Cusco, I stayed at the hotel for 6 nights in various rooms as I came and went from several extended excursions (during which my bag was stored for free so I could travel light) and so I had the chance to try three different rooms: they were all of a high standard and comfy. Even though I was travelling on my own, I had large double rooms.

Inside the Inka doorway, the hotel is based around an open courtyard with the rooms on three sides and the 24 hour reception in the middle. There are a number of polite signs requesting guests to be quiet between 9pm & 7am and there was only one morning when I was aware of any early-morning noise. The free WiFi connection worked well, even in the back corner of the courtyard and there are also two PC's in the sitting/dining area.

Breakfast was served from 5am and offered a choice of cereals, breads, ham, cheese and omelette/scrambled eggs etc as well as fruit juices, yoghurt, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate.

One of the really nice features of the hotel is the sitting area which also had hot water and coca leaves for the guests to help themselves to coca tea all day. I met a number of interesting people in this area and enjoyed some good conversations. The area is also interestingly furnished and it is worth looking around.

On my last night, the staff had thrown a party for the owner on his birthday and when I went over to listen to the music, I was warmly invited to join in and have a drink and a dance!

The hotel is located a 5-10 minute stroll from the main square and the route takes you past the famous 12 sided Inka stone. There are a number of restaurants, pubs, shops (inc. a pharmacy and little "corner" shops) in addition to the craft shops & galleries on the road from the hotel to the main square.

The area is well lit and busy and I felt very safe walking around on my own even after dark.

We stayed 4 nights before our Inca trail trek and 2 nights afterwards and couldn't fault our stay. The location is great, only a short walk to the Plaza and a very nice setting with such helpful staff. Our room was very clean and spacious and brand new fridges had just been installed in all the rooms. The breakfast was good, one of the best we found in Peru, and the endless supply of cocoa tea surely helped in us not having any altitude problems. Would definitely stay there again if we are ever lucky enough to return to Cusco.

Recently spent 4 nights at Rumi Punku at the end of our trip to Peru. Was very pleased with the room (roomy & clean) and the service (prompt & friendly). A quiet location that is about a 10 minute walk from the main plaza.

The breakfast buffet was excellent - plenty of fresh fruit, juices, rolls, cheese and ham. Was able to order scrambled eggs.

Two computers were available in the lobby with high speed internet access. Very convenient to check email and stay in touch with family & friends. WiFi is available if you have your own laptop.

Plenty of hot water - very important since we were just coming off the Inka Trail. That first shower felt great!

I have been at the Hotel Rumi Punku for 6 nights, four before and two after trekking the Inka Trail.

Everything has been great, from the airport pick-up to the check-out. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, even when I had unusual requests (I asked them to help me to find a way to cut in two a walking stick which was not fitting in my bag, and they fulfilled my request in 5 minutes!!).

Both the rooms I have been in were clean, quiet and comfortable, with hot water and heating always available. Breakfast was very good, and available from 5AM (very appreciated on the morning I left for the Inca Trail). They safely stored my bag during the 4 days I have been away.

A special thank to Sergio who helped me organizing several tours for visiting the city, the Sacred Valley, Moray, the Salinas, and suggested fine restaurants.

In summary, the Rumi Punku has been by far the best hotel I have been during my stay in Peru.

I stayed in this lovely hotel for 10 nights in August '09. What a beautiful place: clean rooms, very quiet, close to everything and most importantly - excellent and caring staf, and always willing to help you. I highly recommend staying here - you won't be dissapointed!

My best friend and I stayed at Hotel Rumi Punku for 5 nights over 4 separate stays while in Peru. It just so happened that all of our excursions returned us back to Cuzco, so it worked out perfect for us to continue to return to the same hotel. The staff at Rumi Punku were amazing. They knew our names from the first day and continued to remember us each time we returned. We stayed in 3 different rooms, all of which were perfectly comfortable. The beds were large and the blankets were warm; a welcome contrast to the night chill of the Cuzco winter air. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi if you have your own computer in addition to two computer terminals in the lounge free for everyone. Both computers are loaded with Skype and the hotel even provides headsets to assist with low cost international calling. Breakfast is served every morning from 5a-10a in the same lounge and consists of a selection of fresh fruits, grains, granolas, and cereals, fresh squeezed juices, fresh baked breads, eggs cooked to order, and lean bacon. Early in the morning, the staff lights a fire in the large fire place. So charming. As I mentioned earlier, we stayed here 4 separate times. Between each stay, the hotel was more than happy to store the excess luggage that we didn't need for each excursion. That was a huge help. The hotel is located very near to the Plaza de Armas in the San Blas area of Cuzco - maybe a 10 minute leisurely walk. At night, the main doors of the hotel are closed, locked, and guarded, making everyone perfectly safe. Taxi's are readily available and cost about S/3 to get to the Plaza if you don't want to walk. The hotel is decorated beautifully with antiques of all types. Its worth your time to walk around and look at all of the interesting items the owners have acquired over time.

This hotel not only met but exceeded our expectations. The rooms were clean and comfortable, especially the beds. There are computers in the lobby and free WiFi,if you bring your own. The staff is friendly and helpful. We were able to store our luggage during our 5 day treck and also on day of departure.. It is located on a quiet street within easy walking distance of the main square and we were able to find several good restaurants on the street.

As I told the manager when I was checking out, I've probably stayed in hundreds of hotels all around the world, and the staff at the Rumi Punku was definitely the friendliest, most helpful and most professional of any.The good vibes started with the warm welcome I and several other guests got when we were picked up at the airport. When we got to the hotel we settled into the pleasant lounge area, were served coca leaf tea to help us adjust to the altitude, and did our paperwork. We were then given an overview of the city and the hotel's services. The location of the Rumi Punku couldn't be better. It's on a relatively quiet but centrally located street close enough to the Plaza de Armas while still giving one enough of a respite from the tourist heart of the city. The street, Choquechaca, has several good restaurants, and is close to Plaza San Blas, with more dining choices. Just down the block is a cute little no-cover music club/bar.Rooms are clean and simple, with comfortable beds, cable TV, free WiFi, 24-hour hot water and good heat (necessary for those cold mountain nights). My room cost me $70 US a night, including breakfast, and they were able to charge my credit card in dollars, avoiding foreign exchange fees. They can store your luggage if you take a hiatus elsewhere in the region, as I did, and don't want to lug all your stuff. When I wanted to confirm a dinner reservation in Lima, they made the call for me and wouldn't accept any money for the call. When a tour company screwed up on my pickup for a tour of nearby attractions, the manager called a cab and accompanied me to meet up with the tour at the first stop. Granted the tour company was the one the hotel does business with, but I suspect some hoteliers would have called the cab and left me to my own devices with instructions.Everybody at the hotel spoke impeccable English and their sunny disposition was infectious, though, truth be told, the latter could probably be said about most Cusqueños.

My husband and I travelled to Peru to hike the Inca Trail and see the desert. When we arrived to Cusco early in the morning, we checked into Hotel Rumi Punku. The hotel picked us up at the airport (free) and immediately checked us in. Even though it was only 8 a.m., they already had a room ready for us. They also immediately provided us with coca tea for altitude sickness. Yes, altitude sickness is real and you should take the first day easy. Don't make the same mistake we made by climbing Inca ruins on your first day in Cusco. We ended up really sick and the staff at Hotel Rumi Punku brought us an oxygen tank to our room and pills for altitude sickness. The rooms are very clean and so are the bathrooms. The beds are very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. The staff was friendly and spoke English. To top it off, the hotel was very affordable and a nice breakfast was included every morning. The hotel also had three computers with free internet, which is not easy to find in Peru. I definitely recommend it.

Rumi Punku is a wonderful hotel. We stayed for just over a week, making it our base as we toured and explored the area. We booked based off the TripAdvisor reviews and ratings, and we were not disappointed. We had a "matrimonial" room, meaning it was a queen size bed and a decent size. Not huge, but larger than rooms I've seen in Europe and other places. It was clean and functional. The bathroom had great water pressure and the water was hot (unless you showered after 9am). The staff was excellent--always smiling and polite. We used a few of their recommendations for dinner and were not let down.

pirahnamedic (San Diego)

chose this hotel based off of TripAdvisor's comments and from its #3 rating of best hotels in Cusco. I'm so glad I stayed there. The hotel is in the San Blas part of town, just up from the main square. It is a bit of an uphill walk to get there, but it will help you acclimatize. We were greeted with hot tea and immediately shown around the place and to our room. We stayed about a week before our trip to Machu Picchu and then one night afterwards. The rooms are not fancy, but they are comfortable, warm and clean. The hotel grounds are quaint, well kept and garden-like. There is free internet. A wonderful, healthy and hearty breakfast is served every morning from 5-10 am. There is a friendly security guard at the front door at night. They will also stow your suitcases while you go to Machu Picchu. The best part of Rumi Punku, though is the people who work there. They were all so friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to make our stay there perfect, giving everything from dinner suggestions to booking us daily excursions.

I just returned from a 2 night stay at Rumi Punku. The hotel is located just a 10 minute walk from the Plaza. My family of 5 stayed in 1 room with 3 single and 1 double beds. The beds were very comfortable and "warm". The shower was hot with great water presurre, this is extremely important to me. They have free internet service which was great...the staff was kind and efficient.

My husband, my daughter and I stayed at the Rumi Punku hotel for four nights. This is a beautiful small hotel located in the center of Cusco. The hotel grounds resemble a colonial mansion, and the rooms and the grounds are very well maintained. The hotel is incredibly well located – about a 5-10 minutes walk from Plaza de Armas, and a short walk down the hill from Jack’s – a great place to grab a quick bite for lunch. But the best asset of the hotel is its friendly staff - especially Sergio. He was terrific from the minute we arrived until we left. He provided us with very useful information regarding the nearby Cusco area, places to visit, means of transportation, etc. Breakfast is a bit limited, but its served starting at 5am, which is a huge plus for the early train rides to Macchu Picchu. Many of the previous reviews complain of the noise, but we didn’t hear anything at all – and we stayed in rooms overlooking the courtyard. Overall, this is a great hotel for its value!

I chose this hotel based on TA reviews, and was not disappointed at all. I arrived at the hotel and was greeted well and shown to my room right away. The front desk staff could speak English well. The room was clean and had everything you needed. The location was great. The computers in the breakfast room were available for guests to use - which was very helpful. I stored my luggage here while doing the Inca Trail trek and returned to the hotel for 2 more days following. Great hotel - would recommend to everyone!

Fantastic Breakfast (fresh fruits, breads, eggs, juices, coffee, tea, cheese and deli meats, bacon...) Picked us up from the airport, had a sign with our name on it. Offered tea and coffee while awaiting check-in. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy walk to main plaza de Armas. Had a man at the front door for security and service around-the-clock. Safely stored our bags while we were on the 4 day trek. Wireless internet in the lounge and 2 computers for guests.Charming grounds and sunny terrace. They appologized profusely for the noise of construction...but it was nice to see they are upgrading and expanding the property. Quiet at night. Plenty of hot water in the showers. Used the jacuzzi and sauna one day after the trek. The sauna has a wall of windows that looks out over the roof-tops of Cuzco...magical!

We booked four nights at Rumi Punku (before and after our hike/Machu Picchu visit), based on the TripAdvisor reviews, and were not disappointed. The staff was absolutely great, very helpful with room logistics, luggage and helping us book a taxi for a Sacred Valley tour. The breakfasts are great as well, with a good selection of sandwiches, cereals and fruit, plus egg/bacon available for those who prefer something hot in the morning. Coca tea (if you like it) is available 24/7 as are two PCs for Internet access. The rooms are pretty spacious if you get one with a queen-size (?) bed, but the ones with two twins end up being more tight, especially if you are hauling a lot of luggage. But it's clean, it's warm (you can *really* cook up the temperature if you over-adjust the radiator!) and everything works. Contrary to another review, we found the rooms, on the second and third floor, to be very quiet and slept well. But maybe that's because we just came back from the rain forest where the frogs and insects keep up their symphony all night long? And the location, while looking to be off to the side, was very convenient, just five minutes' walk from the tourist-filled Plaza des Armes. You can eat at the plaza for S/50+ at a tourist restaurant, or get the three-course menu across at one of the tiny local restaurants across the street for about S/15 ...The place to be in Cusco!

Standard answer of the staff: of course. Can I have an egg?, do you have a hairdryer?, can we get some fresh towels?, can we have breakfast at 05:30?, can you move your car? (the owner moved his car, so I could take a picture of the facade), can you make us a reservation? And this one: can you get me a taxi at 5:30? - unlike at some other places - the taxi *was* there at 05:15... (Of course).Probably one the quietest hotels in Cusco. Although located at only a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas, at night the silence is - almost - deafening... There are signs "Be quiet please, from 21:00 on, people are sleeping" in all the stairwells, and the passengers obey them too...They picked us up on the airport, sent someone with us to catch the bus for a day-trip to the Sacred Valley, and had a taxi ready and waiting to take us back to the airport, without us even asking...The room was quite basic, exactly what you pay for, and no smoking, please. It's kept spic & span, the bed is excellent, even for me (1.92 m.) and the shower is very good with plenty of hot water. That's all we need from a hotel, anyway. Finally: breakfast. They do eggs anyway you want them, there is fruit, cereal, fresh juices, different types of bread, cakes, cold meat, excellent coffee, tea, milk, yogurt, etc. If you think something's missing from this list, is probably because I forgot...But in the end, it's the *people* that make this place outstanding. I have stayed in a lot of hotels in may different places in my life, bigger, fancier, more expensive. But I have rarely stayed in one, where the service was really 5 star. One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had, if not *the* best...

doc-and-artist (Madison, WI)

My husband and I picked this hotel based off of other trip advisor reviews. Let me preface my review with this: We aren't luxury seeking travelers, but we have experienced luxury. I would call rate this hotel with authentic, personable, casualness. We value the experience, authenticity, and creature comforts that add to the specific trip.Cleanliness: the grounds, staff, rooms, dining area, upper level spa, all of it are very clean. Location: Rumi Punku couldn't be at a better location! It is in between the shopping and museums around the Plaza and the road up to San Blas. We walked everywhere easily (even at the altitude). The door into the hotel is one of the last original Incan temple doorways left in Cuzco. When you walk into the hotel you are welcomed by the openness of the lobby courtyard. The views from the upper loggia are pretty cool.Rooms: Our room was on the top floor. We had a double bed with one of the fantastic norwegian down comforters. They were very comfortable and clean. We had hot water (very hot) every day. There was also t.v. if one is boring enough to watch it. (There are so many better things to do!) Being non smokers, it was hard to be around the smoking Europeans on the upper loggia that was by our room, but we kept the window shut when they were around.Service: The staff were fantastic. We emailed back and forth with our reservations. They were expecting us and ready for us when we arrived earlier than the check in time. My husband had altitude sickness pretty badly on the 1st full day there. The manager came back to the hotel (after he had already been home from work) late in the evening to make sure my husband had the oxygen tank working, was feeling better, and to check on him. The manager (and all other staff) went out of their way every chance they had. We left in the middle of our stay to do the 4-day Inca Trail hike to Machu Pichu. The hotel securely stored our luggage we weren't taking with us until our return and set us back up quickly in a room. Everything went flawlessly. The breakfast daily was just perfect. Great selection: eggs, pastries, fruits, cereals, juices, and GREAT COFFEE. Value: Compared to U.S. hotels and what you get for your money Rumi Punku is a great find. You get a balance between security/comforts/little luxuries and authenticity. There are a few other added values to note. The upper level is a newly added spa area with a nice sized hot tub surrounded by windows to maximize the views. There is free wifi through out the hotel and free internet on nice computers in the lounge area by the dining. Oxygen tanks to cure altitude sickness were complimentary with the room. The potted plants all over the lobby area and upper loggia were beautiful and added lots of character. The other guests were all great travellers and not "touristy"...which we loved. We stayed for 4 nights total. 2 before our hike and 2 afterwards

If you like your rooms spotlessly clean and secure and inside a beautiful colonial mansion, then you could do far worse than the Rumi Punku. We stayed in two different rooms for three nights each (with a trip to Machu Picchu in between) and really enjoyed it. It's a lovely place to put your feet up when the altitude catches up to you during the first few days, and the free coca tea only sweetens the deal. Staff were mostly friendly and helpful, and many of them speak English. It is one of the only hotels I noticed in town that always has a security guard out the front (complete with a shiny new revolver) so it felt very safe. One important point - when booking, ask for a room on the second or the third floor, as the first floor rooms are much less private and I would imagine noisier. All the rooms have wonderfully warm blankets and good satellite TV. Free wifi is included, but it tended to go on the blink every now and then, and it needs greater range. This is a great choice for Cusco - the perfect 'soft landing' into the Andes. Clean, comfortable, friendly and good-value - it would be hard to find somewhere better.

This hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from the "Plaza de Armas" and is set in a quiet location, apart from dogs barking in the local area in the evening. All rooms are "no smoking" but, if you are a smoker, ask for a room on the second or third floor which have access to a common balcony. The staff are wonderfully helpful and the rooms are pleasant, I just wish that they supplied electric kettles in their rooms, a problem we have found in all Peruvian hotels. The cost was USD60 per night per room but this is low season (Jan 2009) and included a continental style breakfast which included eggs cooked to your preference.Highly RecommendedPat and Ann G

This hotel is a short 5-10 minute walk from the Plaza de Armas. There are ample restaurants within close walking distance, and swing by Chez Maggy for some kick-butt pizza if you can. The staff is friendly and helpful, the grounds are pretty and very well maintained, and the rooms are clean and charming. The breakfast offers great food, and there is hot mate de coca available all day (along with dry leaves to take with you). The internet access in the breakfast room came in very convenient. We were picked up at the train station and transported to the hotel, and actually hooked up with the cab driver as a personal driver for the week ($50 for the entire day, wherever you wanted to go).

The Rumi Punku is a charming place to stay while in Cusco. They arrange to pick you up from the airport. The staff is multilingual and always very helpful and really try to make sure that you are safe and have a good time during your stay. Tea is always available in the lobby, along with 2 computers with internet and a flat screen TV to watch. Breakfast is great, with fresh fruit, cereal, bread, cheese, ham, hot chocolate and juice. It starts early -- at 5 am for those venturing out to Machu Picchu, which is really convenient. Rooms are cozy and clean. I would definitely recommend spending the extra couple of bucks to go to the jacuzzi room. You reserve it just for yourself and your group ahead of time. There is an awesome, 4 person jacuzzi, exercise equipment, table and chairs, sauna and changing room,, the view is incredible as well,, a great place to relax

I highly recommend the Hostal Rumi Punku. I found this small hotel to be charming, clean and comfortable. Most of all I found the innkeepers to be very very helpful and pleasant. I needed considerable assistance with lost luggage problems and unexpected transportation changes. In each situation the innkeepers patiently and cheerfully helped me resolve the problems.

We couldn't have been more pleased with Rumi Punku. The whole experience, from check-in after an overnight flight, breakfast, arrangements with the front desk, and storage of luggage was easy. Jorge at the front desk really took care of us. We stayed at RP for 2 nights before doing the Inca Trail and returned for 3 more. It was like coming home. Then when our flight was canceled and our departure delayed for 24 hours, Sergio welcomed us back like family. The location is excellent - away from the main plaza - no noise but close to good restaurants in San Blas quarter. Don't forget to try Cafe Punchay just two doors down for coffee and waffles.

Stayed there twice while touring Peru after staying at a 5-star hotel in Lima that should take lessons from this hotel.. The hotel is extremely convenient to everything. The interior of the hotel is something to see as the flowers and stone work are impressive in themselves. Free internet, clean rooms, and a great breakfast. The staff was wonderful and helpful. You could ask them anything and had a can do attitude. I have traveled all over the world and anything you asked was "of course" they could do it.

Everything was nice. Location was close to Plaza de Armas, there were markets and eating places nearby, staff was helpful, the room was nice and clean, the facility was attractive, breakfast was complete (even made the hard boiled eggs we preferred), and hot water was available when needed. (We did have a problem with the hot water at first, informed hotel staff, and it was resolved satisfactorily.) All in all, a nice place to stay. It seemed fully booked, and it is clear why. (Be sure to reconfirm your booking which we were told, by e-mail, to do. We did, and our room awaited us. Only problem. Since most rooms seem to face a courtyard, it could be a bit noisy when unthinking guests talk loudly, especially those leaving very early for the Inca Trail or to take an early train to Aguas Calietes (Machu Picchu).

Hotel Rumi Punku was an amazingly nice experience. Don't let the name "Hostal" fool you. This is a very nice hotel. Everyone is very welcoming & accomodating. It's like staying with a family in a home. I didn't feel like I was in a hotel at all. The rooms are very comfortable, charming & clean. There's a center courtyard that is beautiful. The breakfast area & common "living room" is spacious, nicely decorated & a great place to talk to other travelers during their stay. They have 2 computers with free internet access in this space as well as free wifi that worked great with my laptop. Since travelers' schedules are so different, they start serving breakfast at 5am til 10 & have hot food fixed to order. Plenty of juices to choose from. Coca tea is available 24/7, self serve. They have a safe to store your valuables in the room and a larger safe in the office for storing laptops if needed. I really didn't want to leave. If there were a 5 star American hotel for free in Cusco, I'd still stay at the Rumi Punku.

I stayed at Rumi Punku for 3 nights and was thrilled with the experience. The room was cozy and warm with a space heater and heavy blanket. The entire hotel is spotless clean. The hot water always worked and both the bathroom and room itself were spacious. The decor is fantastic, with original Inca stonework visible throughout the building in addition to a great eclectic collection of artwork around the place. Breakfast is served in a gorgeous little common space and is included in the price. They had great fresh fruit juices, eggs made to order, bacon, cereals, yogurt, toast, tea and coffee. I took a look at the jacuzzi and it looked super nice, but unfortunately didn't get a chance to use it.The most important thing I have to say about this place though is that the staff, including the owner, are incredible. They went out of their way to make sure that I was comfortable and happy. I had a medical emergency related to altitude sickness on my first night at the hotel, and the owner drove me personally to the hospital, waited there with me, and visited me the next morning at the hospital to check on me. After only a couple days at the hotel, the staff felt like family.Location-wise, its an easy downhill walk to the Plaza de Armas, and one of my favorite restaurants in Cusco, Jack's Cafe, is right down the street. What more could you ask for?

From the moment you arrive till the moment you say goodbye it is a beautiful experience. Rumi has all the items you ask for a nice hotel. White linens perfectly clean. Nice bathroom. Excellent breakfast. Free wireless internet. And the most important thing: service!!!I used to work in a five star hotel and I must say that you won´t find nothing better in a more expensive hotel. It was the best hotel in my 15 nights visit to Peru.

we stayed at Rumi Punku for 4 nights and it was a great experience. The hotel is beautiful. We stayed in the triple room (211). The room is spacious and very comfortable. We showered both in the mornings and evenings and never had problems with hot water. The hotel staff are great at Rumi Punku. They arranged taxis (even negotiate price for us), and recommended restaurants. They went out of their way to help us anyway they can and we are very grateful. We definitely would recommend this hotel to anybody. Oh, btw, their breakfast is excellent too!

The Rumi Punku is a great place to stay. I stayed there for a total of six days and not once during that time did I have a complaint. The staff were amazingly friendly and professional. They answered every question I ever asked. They gave me great advice on where to eat and what to see in the area. They provided me with maps galore of the town. They even held my luggage for me while I traveled outside of Cuzco for free. My last day there Bruno, the desk manager, hailed me a taxi, bargained down the price and refused a tip for his services. He was great. The accommodations were spotless and beautiful. Plus, there is a sauna and hot tub available at a reasonable fee and nothing feels better after a long day hiking around Cuzco than soaking in a warm hot tub.The location of the Rumi Punku is fantastic. You’re a stones throw away from the Plaza de Arms and right down the hill from San Blas. You can pretty much hike to any part of Cuzco in five to ten minutes and the area feels really safe. The hostel also has its own security guard that watches the door after 7pm just as an extra precaution. Before I stayed at the Rumi Punku I had read some complaint of it being really noise. It is true that if guest are talking at night in the courtyard area it can seem noisy, but I chalked it up to guests behaving badly. The management has signs posted every where asking people to observe quiet hours and twice I heard a staff member ask guests to keep their voices down so they wouldn’t disturb others. If you’re really worried about noise I suggest that you ask for a room at the back of the hostel away from the courtyard.I loved the Rumi Punku and would

13 jul 2008 We spent 3 nights before our hike and another 2 nights the following week. Coming back to it was like coming back home!We (10 of us) truly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful hotel. It was quite a beautiful place to stay. A lovely courtyard in the middle. Big dining room for the wonderful breakfast. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It was a close walk to the Plaza de Armas. I would most definitely recommend the Rumi Punku.

stayed at Rumi Punku with 3 friends (two rooms) for 2 nights before and one night after hiking the Inka Trail. Jorge, the hotel manager (?), greeted us upon check-in and showed us to our rooms. The rooms were clean and adequately spacious. The bedding on each bed was very plush and comfy. Each room had a television with a ton of channels (many in English), space heaters (needed at night), but no hair dryers. The hotel building is very old and very beautiful and within a short walk to the Plaza de Armas. The hotel has a main lounge room where 2 computers with Internet access were available for use (free of charge). Breakfast was available (included in room price) very early each morning and consisted of eggs made-to-order, fruit, oatmeal. juices, rolls, and croissants. The hotel will also store luggage for hikers free of charge. Jorge was very accommodating to our requests and provided a number of suggestions of things to do around Cusco. We took Jorge's advice and hired a cab driver to drive us around to different sites one afternoon. I truly enjoyed my stay at Rumi Punku and I hate to say anything negative about the hotel, but I feel I must make one disclosure: because the rooms are all centered around one main courtyard, you may hear noise from other guests. I heard some noise one afternoon while napping and I was, for a few moments, woken up early one morning by other guests who were leaving early for their hike. The noise was short-lived and certainly didn't ruin a whole night's sleep. I'd recommend Rumi Punku to everyone!

The hotel was close to the Plaza de Armas, about 5-10 minute walk. It was also close to San Blas (up hill of course). The staff at the hotel were really helpful. No problems with hot water, especially after hiking for five days in the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Really comfortable beds. Breakfast was also excellent. TIP: If you are looking for a quinta, Quinta Eulalia is very close to the hotel. Great place to eat traditional Andean cuisine.

Seven of us stayed at the Rumi Punku for three nights in early August. It was a great location in Cusco...a ten minute or lesswalk from the Plaza de Armas, but also close to lots of restaurants and shops, and a short, but uphill walk to the San Blas neighborhood. The hotel is lovely, with beautiful plants and a courtyard that is open to the sky. There's a very nice breakfast room, with very helpful staff and a good breakfast. Free internet, games, and a lounge were all wonderful. The rooms were spotless and good-sized. The first night, two of us stayed in a room right on the first floor. It was noisy, as fellow travelers came in and out right by our door, on the stone floor of the courtyard. For the other nights, the staff helpfully changed us to a much quieter room in the back, with beautiful flowering plants right outside our door. The staff was helpful with questions, cabs and other details. I'd highly recommend staying here.

Stepping through the Inca Portal of Rumi Punku is like entering a sanctuary. In over 12 years visiting Cuzco twice a year, I have found no other hotel offering all that welcomes me here. It is bright, airy, spotlessly clean and the staff are generous, welcoming and quick to help. I enjoy the many artful touches of class--the flowers in the rooms, colonial antiques placed to treat the eye on all sides and the original paintings on the walls. The beds are firm and covered with Norwegian comforters, and the rooms have extra blankets, heaters and spotless bathrooms. There is a garden patio, a sunny rooftop terrace, and a remarkable sauna, jacuzzi and workout room overlooking the city! The breakfast is excellent. Friends who I have recommended stay at Rumi Punku have raved about it. Having found this hotel, I am no longer looking for something better...there probably isn't anything better to be found in Cuzco.

My family of 7 (2 seniors, 2 adults & 3 teenagers) just returned from Peru. stayed 3 nights at Hotel Rumi Punku and loved it. It is quiet and charming. Clean, comfortable beds, good breakfast. Easy access to Coca Mate Tea for those acclimating to altitude. Close to Plaza de Armas and good restaurants. Service was great! Everyone was very accomodating. Very secure, electric gate & night security. Always a cab waiting right outside.Would definitely say again!

We stayed there at this hostal for 3 nights. My mother, my friend and I we really spent a nice time there. The place was a colonial-like house with an original Cuzco arch as main entrance. Beautiful. People who worked there was always friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable, spacious, and clean. The good thing was that 24 hours a day it was available at the dining room a jar with hot water and we could drink coca tea to avoid the puna effect. This was excellent idea. I highly recommend this hostal.

My friend and I spent 3 wonderful nights here while we acclimatized to Cusco and took in the city and all the surrounding areas. From there we went to Chinchero, Ollantaytambo (do not miss this if at all possible!) and then the train to Aquas Calientes and Machu Picchu. The hostal is located on a very quiet street and once entering through the ancient Incan doorway; you are greeted by a serene and tiny plaza within the tall walls. The layout is quite beautiful and the rooms were quaint and charming. Breakfast is served every morning from 7 - 9. Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs and ham, fresh fruit, granola, pastries and jam, fresh squeezed juice, coffee and hot tea.Rumi Punku is easily within walking distance to the Plaza la Armas, old cathedrals, Coricancha, and the enchanting sector of San Blas. It is only a quick taxi ride to Sacsayhuaman and the other adjacent Incan ruins. We loved everything about it! Staff was friendly and more than helpful!!We did return from Aquas Calientes to sadly spend our last night in the exceptionally beautiful country of Peru, here again at Rumi Punku. We were pleased and got much more than we had hoped for during our stays here at Rumi Punku. Would go back in a heartbeat!!I do want to add that while we were here, my friend dropped her brand new digital camera and broke it. She was naturally distraught and one of the people at the front desk immediately called a friend of his and he came and got the camera and fixed it. Three hours later, my friend had her camera returned and was only charged $30 for the two broken parts to be repaired. She was thrilled!!

Rumi Punku is one of the nicest places we have stayed in this price range. Staff was very friendly. The hostal has great decor, wonderful beds and was immaculate. Fast and free internet. The lounge and dining hall were very pleasant and breakfast of muesli, yoghurt, fruit, bread, eggs, ham, cheese, bread, jam, etc. was filling and of good quality. Jorge, the desk clerk, always had a smile. The location is great in San Blas just 5 minutes walk from the square. There are good restaurants close by and try to eat at Quinta Eulalia up the street for great authentic Peruvian cuisine at a fair price. There is nothing to dislike about this hostal.

If you visit Cusco and you do not stay at the Rumi Punku, you messed up!. The Hostal Rumi Punku is quaint, safe and is convenient to the central plaza. The hot showers were great and the Norwegian dynes are such a nice touch in making the beds sooooo comfortable. I arrived at the Rumi Punku with a group of 22 people (mostly dental students from Tufts University). That large a group puts a lot of pressure on the hotel staff. Javier Siclla and his staff were fantastic in accommodating all of us. Every morning, breakfast was there for us; even the one morning when we had to leave at 4:30AM! Peru is a beautiful country but its people are what make it so memorable - The Hostal Rumi Punku is a quaint and comfortable place to stay but its staff makes it the only place to stay in Cusco.

What a great place! Great beds, shower, location and staff! Our front desk manager, Gorge, made dinner reservations for us at the Inka Grill. He informed the restaurant it was my daughter's birthday so they suprised us with a special Peruvian chocolate dessert. It was a great experience and we will return to Rumi Punku.

My husband and I were extremely pleased with our choice of Hostal Rumi Punku when we travelled to Cusco for a two week stay in September. We were welcomed to Cusco by the staff at Rumi Punku from the moment we left the airport -- since they were there to greet us with our name and the name of the Hostal. Once at Rumi Punku we were given Coca Tea and for the next 2 weeks we felt completely at home. Perfect, safe, location close to the Plaza de Armas; nearby, friendly, convenience stores with bottled water and essentials; Jack's Cafe down the street; and taxi cabs at the door whenever you need them. Our luggage was safely stored during our 4 day hike to Machu Pichu and we returned from our hike feeling as if we had come home.

Would highly recommend this wonderful, clean hostal. Jorge and Javier speak very good English and work extremely hard to make visitors feel welcome and comfortable during their stay in Peru.

Having just returned from 6 weeks in South America, my stay at Rumi Punku in Cusco is certainly a high point. The very capable and friendly staff made my visit to Cusco as well as my trip to watch the sun rise over Machu Picchu a seamless, wonderful and memorable experience. The location, the setting, cleanliness(not to mention the warm Norwegian feather duvets) all at a very reasonable price, makes this a real find for the traveler. I highly recommend Rumi Punku and I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay!!!

I Love Hostal Rumi Punku! A friend and I stayed here for 3 nights in Nov 06 and were thrilled with the service, location and value of this hostal. The rooms were clean and well maintained, the hot water was reliable, and the beds were comfortable. The location is very central and as two single girls we felt safe to walk to and from the square, even after 10p. I also can't say enough about how friendly, kind, and helpful staff the staff are. The breakfast was great as well. Overall I highly recommend Hostal Rumi Punku as an excellent value and great place to stay.

We stayed at the Rumi Punku for a few nights in October, 2006. It was the least expensive of the three hotels we stayed at while in Peru, but was the one we liked the best by far. The hostal itself is lovely. Our rooms on the second floor were very nice, spacious and quiet. The staff was always helpful, warm and hospitable, no matter how busy they were. The kindness of the staff is one of our fondest memories of the entire trip. Even when we returned after being gone a couple of days in Aguas Calientes, they still remembered us by name. We were very impressed. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to Cusco some day, the Rumi Punku would be our first choice. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place in Cusco.

We stayed at Rumi Punku for a total of four nights: three nights before we hiked to Machu Picchu and one night after. The location was excellent: on a quiet street, but just a couple minutes walk from the main square, bars, restaurants etc. Both rooms we stayed in were large, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast and service were excellent. The staff was great help directing us to things to do and see in Cusco, and the owner went far out of his way to help us when we ran into a difficult situation. We couldn't have been more pleased.

There are only two genuine large Inca gates in Cuzco, the crossrods of
South American travel and travelers, as well as the Inca capital. One
leads into Hostal Rumi Punku, where a genuine experience of comfort,
courtesy, convenience and authenticity awaits travelers, for a
reasonable price and outstanding value. Cuzco has sufficient delights
apart from its hotels, but the pleasure of staying at the Rumi Punku
assures that a Cuzco visit will long remain among one,s happiest
travel memories. I look forward to my return stays at the Rumi Punku
as frequently as possible. Malcolm Williamson

Myself and 3 friends stayed here in July 2006. It situated in a great location, less than 10 minutes walk from the main square. The staff are very helpful and efficient. The rooms are clean and the breakfasts are good. The free airport pickup is a great bonus. The place is very secure with a controlled entry access gate. All rooms were booked while we were there which shows how popular the place is. Overall, this Hostal can be highly recommended.

The location is perfect, the room was clean and comfortable and could accommadate all four of us. The breakfasts were fresh and delicious. The courtyard is relaxing and inviting. We left our luggage there during our 4 day trek to MP and all was well upon our return. I'd recommend Rumi Punku to everyone.

My wife and I stayed at Rumi Punki in the fall of 2003, our very first time in Cuzco. We fell in love with the place as soon as we entered it's sun-drenched and antiquities-filled courtyard. We have since returned several times for both fun and business and the place has become like a second home to us.

More like a bed and breakfast than a traditional hotel, Rumi Punku is both relaxed and efficient. The beds are comfortable, the showers are great and the breakfast offerings improve with each visit. The staff is very friendly, capable and hlepful, and will accommodate any reasonable request. The room rates are fare and the ammenites are considerable.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hostal to anyone. Thank you to the owner and staff for all the great service and friendship!

We had the most wonderful stay at Rumi Punku 3 night before we hiked to Macchu Picchu and one night after in October. The courtyard is gorgeous and there are dreamcatchers outside each room. You can relax on the rooftop veranda and look out over Cusco. The staff was most friendly and breakfast each morning was very fresh delicious. The location is perfect as it is very close to the center of town but far enough away not to hear the traffic and noise. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else on our return.

Rumi Punku was one of the most wonderful hostals we have ever stayed at. The atmosphere is very relaxing and peaceful. We very much liked how the rooms are built on different levels with a beautiful courtyard in the center of the hostal. A lot of natural materials such as wood and stone were used. The owner of the hostal has decorated the courtyard herself with flowers, plants, antiques and other artefacts. Each room has a small porch where you can sit and enjoy coca de mate or a cup of coffee in the morning.
The staff was very friendly and accomodated every request.
The hostal is located in a quiet street away from the traffic and the hustle and bustle of the city.
We stayed five nights and we plan to return within the next two years. There is NO question that we will be staying at Rumi Punku again.

I would just like to say what a lovely hotel Hostal Rumi Punku is. We recieved a very warm welcome on our arrival and all the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

The rooms were clean and pleasant and the hotel had a lovely relaxing atmosphere.

All the staff were absolutely fantastic and we would not hesitate to stay there again should we visit Cusco again in the future.

Thanks very much to you all.

Best wishes

Cutest place! We stayed there in September 2005 for a family trip. We had a wide range of ages - 3 years old to 70. The place is quaint, friendly, and well-situated. The views from the upstairs patio are spectacular. As you enter the locked front gate you feel like you are stepping into a hidden oasis from the bustling street. The rooms are servicable and clean, and the price is right! When we made the staff aware of some issues with our mattress, they simply replaced it! We spent some time looking around at other more "deluxe" places while we were in Cusco, and could find nothing better even at 3x the price. Thank you from our whole family to the staff of RumiPunku for your kindness and hospitality and for a wonderful stay. Lipari and Ratcliff families, Ohio and Maryland, USA

Rumi Punku was fantastic. Our group stayed on three different occasions during our stay in Peru and all the rooms were great. Centrally located, clean, comfortable and cosy. Staff very helpful.Airport pickup a tremendous bonus.
Will recommend to all and hope to return someday. Thank you.

My son and I had the pleasure of staying in this establishment in April 2005. The rooms were very clean and presentable and we would not hesitate to stay there again. Staff were friendly & helpful. Security is excellent. We had a very pleasant stay. Excellent value.

From the moment we were met at the airport by the gracious staff through our early morning departure for Machu Picchu and up until our departure, the Rumi was a true home away from home. Clean and comfortable rooms; informative and hospitable staff;perfect location in the heart of Cuzco. We plan to return on our next trip. Thanks! Scott and Sarah from San Diego, California USA
